Known as “Your Place for All Seasons” and the “Southern Gateway to the Colville National Forest”, Chewelah has the small-town charm that people fall in love with. Just 45 minutes north of Spokane and 70 miles south of the Canadian border on Hwy 395, Chewelah is an easy get away with a lot to offer.

CITY GOVERNMENT

The City of Chewelah had its first City Council meeting on February 7, 1903.  Mayor W.W. Dickson presided over the meeting.  There were five Council members. Now, 115+ years later, the City Council consists of seven members.  Regular meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of every month, at 6:30 pm in the Council Chambers at 301 E. Clay.

It is our shared mission in our schools to make Chewelah the place “Where Dreams Begin.” We strive to make our schools a place where our students learn to dream big dreams and are provided with the skills and knowledge to make dreams fulfilled.

Whether you are coming from across the country or the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene area, 49 Degrees North is a wonderful destination for all your winter activities! 49 Degrees North is located just 10 miles outside of Chewelah, Washington, and in the heart of the Colville National Forest along Flowery Trail Road.

Chewelah Golf & Country Club

Chewelah Golf and Country Club is a magnificent 27 hole golf course open to the public located just 45 minutes North of Spokane, Washington. The course is carved into majestic conifers, boasting plush bent-grass greens, manicured fairways, and four sets of tees to challenge any skill level. There is an ample practice facility, an RV Park equipped with 27 full hook-ups, a 3800 ft. lighted airstrip, and three new tennis courts. The Rusty Putter Bar and Grille at Chewelah Golf and Country Club is eager to host your social or business function.
